What is pH?
A number from 0 to 14. Below 7 is acidic. 7 is neutral — like pure water. Above 7 is basic (alkaline).

The pH Scale
Each step is 10× stronger than the one before. pH 2 is 100× more acidic than pH 4. Small numbers hide big jumps.
pH पैमाना

Acids
The indicator turns red–orange. Lemon juice is pH 2. Battery acid is near 0. The lower the number, the more acidic.

Neutral Water
Pure water sits at pH 7. Neither acidic nor basic. The indicator settles into a calm green — the middle of the scale.
उदासीन जल
शुद्ध जल pH 7 पर है। न अम्लीय, न क्षारीय। सूचक शांत हरे रंग में — पैमाने के मध्य में।
Bases
Baking soda pushes the indicator teal–blue (pH 9). Bleach goes violet. Drain cleaner reaches pH 14 — the strongest base here.

Litmus Paper
Paper soaked in lichen dye. The molecules change shape on contact with H⁺ ions — that shape change alters how they reflect light.
